15-Minute Easy Spaghetti

Quick, no-drain spaghetti made with Pronto pasta, browned beef, and jarred tomato-basil sauce for an easy weeknight meal.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 12 ounce Barilla Pronto Half-Cut Spaghetti one box
  • salt pinch, optional to taste
  • 1 pound ground beef or ground sirloin about 90% lean recommended
  • 24 ounce Barilla Tomato and Basil Sauce one jar or your favorite sauce
  • fresh basil finely chopped, optional for garnish
  • Parmesan cheese freshly grated, optional for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or sauté pan
  • large saucepan or deep skillet for pasta
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Measuring cup
  • colander (optional)

Method

  1. In a large pan or deep skillet, add the box of Pronto spaghetti and cover with 3 cups cold water; add a pinch of salt if using.
  2. Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat slightly to maintain a steady boil; cook uncovered until the water is mostly absorbed and the pasta is al dente, about 8–10 minutes—watch and stir occasionally.
  3. While the pasta cooks, heat a large skillet over medium-high and add the ground beef.
  4. Cook the beef, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and cooked through with no pink remaining, about 6–8 minutes.
  5. Stir the jar of tomato and basil sauce into the cooked beef and heat for 1–2 minutes until warmed through.
  6. When the pasta is done and most of the water is absorbed, add the meat sauce to the pan with the pasta and toss gently to combine; alternatively plate the pasta and spoon the sauce over individual servings.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped fresh basil and freshly grated Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Use 90% lean beef to avoid draining excess fat.
  • Watch the pasta near the end of cooking to prevent overcooking.
  • Fresh basil and Parmesan are optional but add flavor.
  • Cook the beef completely before adding the sauce.
