Prep Time 1 hour
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 20 minutes
Servings: 2 wings

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb chicken wings (flats and drumettes), separated
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (such as Frank's)

Equipment

  • Air fryer (Philips XXL or similar)
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Tongs
  • Refrigerator

Method

  1. Pat the wings dry with paper towels and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Sprinkle the baking powder and garlic powder over the wings, then toss until each piece is evenly coated.
  3. Cover and refrigerate the coated wings for 1 hour (or up to overnight) to help dry the skin and improve crispiness.
  4. Remove the wings from the refrigerator and season them with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, standing them on their ends if possible; do not overcrowd—cook in batches if needed.
  6. Air fry at 400°F for 20 minutes, or until the wings are crispy and golden brown, flipping or shaking the basket once if your fryer requires it.
  7. Transfer the cooked wings to a bowl, pour the buffalo wing sauce over them, and toss until evenly coated.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Coating wings with baking powder helps them crisp up in the air fryer.
  • Frank's wing sauce is a suggested brand for buffalo flavor.
  • Wings can be refrigerated after coating for up to overnight.
  • Season with additional spices like lemon pepper or BBQ rub if desired.
