  • 1 cup panko or regular breadcrumbs for coating

Method
 

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Onion - Peel the onion and cut into thick slices, separating them into rings.
  2. Step 2: Soak in Buttermilk - Soak onion rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Make the Coating - Mix breadcrumbs, cornmeal, flour, and Cajun seasoning in a bowl.
  4. Step 4: Prepare the Egg Whites - Whisk egg whites in a separate bowl until frothy.
  5. Step 5: Dredge the Onion Rings - Dip rings in egg whites and then coat with breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Step 6: Preheat the Air Fryer - Preheat to 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
  7. Step 7: Air Fry the Onion Rings - Spray basket with oil, arrange rings, and cook for 10-12 minutes.
