Ingredients

  • 1 block extra-firm tofu (14 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • 2.5 teaspoons seasoned rice vinegar
  • 0.75 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Cutting Board
  • Sharp Knife
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring Spoons

Method

  1. Drain the tofu and press it to remove excess moisture. Wrap in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for 15-30 minutes.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes, aiming for 1-inch pieces.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Add the cubed tofu to the bowl with the marinade and toss gently. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated tofu and toss gently to coat.
  6. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  7. Arrange tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Let tofu cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it on its own, in salads, or stir-fries!

Notes

  • Always use extra-firm tofu for best results.
  • Leftover tofu can be reheated in the air fryer to regain crispiness.
  • Double the marinade for larger batches; it keeps well in the fridge.
