Ingredients

  • 1 box devil's food cake mix (15.25 ounces)
  • 12 ounces caramel sauce
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)
  • 1 container thawed whipped topping (8 ounces)
  • 1 cup Heath toffee bits or crushed toffee bar

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • 9x13-inch Baking Pan
  • Whisk or electric mixer
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your cake bakes evenly.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Cake Mix
In a large mixing bowl, combine the devil's food cake mix with the ingredients listed on the package, usually water, oil, and eggs. Mix well until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  3. Step 3: Bake the Cake
Pour the cake batter into the prepared 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Step 4: Poke Holes in the Cake
Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes. Using the end of a wooden spoon or a fork, poke holes all over the top of the cake.
  5. Step 5: Drizzle the Sauces
In a separate bowl, mix together the caramel sauce and sweetened condensed milk until well combined. Pour this mixture evenly over the cake.
  6. Step 6: Chill the Cake
Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
  7. Step 7: Add the Whipped Topping
After the cake has chilled, spread the thawed whipped topping evenly over the top.
  8. Step 8: Sprinkle with Toffee Bits
Finally, sprinkle the Heath toffee bits or crushed toffee bar over the whipped topping for that irresistible crunch.

Notes

  • Make the cake a day in advance for better flavor.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Consider adding fresh toffee bits right before serving for extra crunch.
