Ingredients

For the Salmon:
  • 4 fillets Salmon 4-6 ounces each
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1/2 small Lemon sliced

Equipment

  • Cast Iron Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Tongs
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife

Method

Cooking Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Salmon - Start by patting the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the fillets generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Step 2: Heat the Skillet - Place your cast iron skillet on the stove over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  3. Step 3: Sear the Salmon - Carefully place the salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down if applicable. Let them cook undisturbed for about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Flip the Fillets - Using a spatula, gently flip each salmon fillet. Add the butter to the skillet and let it melt, spooning the melted butter over the fillets.
  5. Step 5: Add Lemon - Toss in the lemon slices around the salmon. The heat will caramelize the lemons.
  6. Step 6: Finish Cooking - Continue cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Step 7: Serve and Enjoy - Remove the skillet from heat. Plate the salmon and spoon the buttery lemon sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Fresh salmon yields the best flavor and texture.
  • Consider adding fresh herbs to the butter for extra aroma.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
