Equipment

  • Medium-sized Pot
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Spatula
  • Knife

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 cup instant polenta
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 strips halal bacon, cooked crispy & chopped
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Polenta - Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium-sized pot. Add a pinch of salt, then gradually whisk in the instant polenta. Cook according to package instructions for about 3–5 minutes until thickened.
  • Step 2: Flavor the Polenta - Stir in minced garlic, fresh thyme, chives, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped bacon. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 3: Shape the Polenta Fries - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour the polenta mixture onto the parchment and spread it out evenly to about ½ inch thickness. Allow to cool for 30 minutes.
  • Step 4: Cut the Fries - Once set, slice the polenta into fry shapes using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  • Step 5: Bake the Fries - Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Transfer fries to the baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, and season. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding grated Parmesan cheese or red pepper flakes. Letting the polenta cool completely before slicing helps the fries hold their shape better.
