Directions: Cheese Frenchies
- In a food processor, pulse the Ritz crackers until you have coarse crumbs. Transfer the crumbs to a shallow dish and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, large eggs, and mayonnaise until well combined.
- Lay out four slices of the hearty white sandwich bread. Place a slice of American cheese on each piece. Top with another slice of bread to create four sandwiches.
- Carefully dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.
- Press each side of the dipped sandwich into the Ritz cracker crumbs, ensuring they are well coated.
- In a skillet or griddle, heat a generous amount of vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated sandwiches to the skillet. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Once cooked, transfer the Cheese Frenchies to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy them plain!
Notes
- For added fiber, use whole grain bread instead of white.
- Opt for reduced-fat mayonnaise for a lighter version.
- Try adding spinach or sliced tomatoes for extra nutrition.
