  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder divided
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1.5 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • to taste Fresh parsley finely chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Step 2: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the unsalted butter, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix until smooth.
  • Step 3: Slice the French bread in half lengthwise.
  • Step 4: Spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread.
  • Step 5: In a separate bowl, mix the mozzarella and cheddar cheese with the remaining garlic powder. Pile the cheese mixture onto the buttered bread.
  • Step 6: Place the bread halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the edges are golden.
  • Step 7: Garnish with fresh parsley, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, add minced garlic to the butter mixture. You can also experiment with different cheese combinations.
