Ingredients

  • 20 oz cheese tortellini The star of the dish, filled with creamy cheese.
  • 3 tbsp butter For richness and flavor.
  • 2 tsp minced garlic Adds a wonderful aroma and taste.
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour Helps thicken the sauce.
  • 1 cup chicken broth Provides depth and a savory base.
  • 1 cup milk Makes the sauce creamy and luscious.
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese Adds a salty, nutty flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp fresh parsley chopped, for a fresh garnish and pop of color.

Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Skillet
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Cutting Board

Method

  1. Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cheese tortellini and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 3-5 minutes, or until they float to the top. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes. This will help create a roux that thickens your sauce.
  4. Slowly pour in the chicken broth and milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the sauce begins to thicken.
  5. Stir in the grated parmesan cheese until it melts into the sauce, creating a creamy, cheesy mixture. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add the cooked tortellini to the skillet, gently folding them into the sauce until they are well coated in the cheesy goodness.
  7. Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped parsley for a fresh finish. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Cheesy Tortellini Pasta!

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of milk or broth to loosen the sauce.
  • For meal prep, cook the tortellini and make the sauce separately, combining them just before serving.
