Ingredients

For the Marinade:
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Adds a caramelized sweetness that complements the spice.
  • 3 tablespoons adobo sauce This smoky, spicy sauce is the star of the show.
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt Enhances all the flavors without overpowering the dish.
  • 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets (1 1/2 inches thick) The protein base of this recipe.
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions Freshness and a pop of color to finish off the dish.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Oven-safe baking dish or sheet pan
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Serving Platter

Method

Stepwise Method:
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, adobo sauce, and kosher salt. Mix well until the brown sugar is fully dissolved and the ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in the bowl with the marinade. Make sure each fillet is generously coated. If you have time, let it marinate for 15-30 minutes for deeper flavor.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high heat will help caramelize the sugar, giving the salmon a delightful crust.
  4. Place the marinated salmon fillets on an oven-safe baking dish or sheet pan. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Sprinkle the chopped green onions over the top for a fresh finish. Serve warm and enjoy your Chipotle Salmon!

Notes

  • For a sweeter flavor, try using coconut sugar instead of brown sugar.
  • Adjust the spiciness by varying the amount of adobo sauce used.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
