Ingredients

  • 0.02 cup pure maple syrup for natural sweetness and flavor
  • 0.33 cup light brown sugar adds moisture and a hint of caramel
  • 4 teaspoons vanilla extract enhances the overall flavor
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt balances the sweetness
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil provides healthy fat and helps in crisping
  • 5 cups old-fashioned rolled oats the base of your granola
  • 2 cups chocolate chips because who can resist chocolate?

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your granola will bake evenly.
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent the granola from sticking and make cleanup a breeze.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the pure maple syrup, light brown sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and vegetable oil. Whisk them together until fully blended and smooth.
  4. Add the old-fashioned rolled oats to the wet mixture. Use a spatula to fold them in until all the oats are evenly coated.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly onto your prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure even baking.
  6. Once the granola is out of the oven, allow it to cool slightly for about 10 minutes. Then, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the warm granola.
  7. Allow the granola to cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break it into clusters and transfer it to an airtight container for storage.
