Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your muffins bake evenly.
- Lightly grease your muffin tin with melted butter to prevent sticking. You can also use muffin liners if you prefer.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
- In another bowl, combine the melted butter, beaten egg, and warm milk. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently fold them together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine.
- In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for the topping. Stir in the melted butter until you have a crumbly mixture.
- Spoon the muffin batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about ¾ full. Sprinkle the cinnamon topping generously over each muffin.
- Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the tin for about 5 minutes. Then, transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely. Enjoy your homemade cinnamon muffins warm or at room temperature!
Notes
- Room temperature ingredients blend better, leading to a smoother batter.
- Don’t overmix the batter; this keeps your muffins tender and fluffy.
- For an extra boost of flavor, consider adding vanilla extract to the wet ingredients.
