Preparation Steps:
- Step 1: Preheat the Oven - Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your cake will bake evenly.
- Step 2: Prepare the Baking Dish - Grease your 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Step 3: Make the Streusel Topping - In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, chopped walnuts or pecans, and ground cinnamon. Pour in the melted butter and mix until crumbly. Set aside.
- Step 4: Prepare the Cake Batter - In a large mixing bowl, prepare the yellow cake mix according to the package instructions, usually involving adding water, eggs, and oil. Mix until just combined.
- Step 5: Layer the Cake and Streusel - Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle half of the streusel mixture over the batter. Add the remaining cake batter on top, followed by the rest of the streusel.
- Step 6: Bake - Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 7: Make the Glaze - While the cake is baking, whisk together the confectioners' sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary.
- Step 8: Cool and Glaze - Once the cake is done, allow it to cool in the baking dish for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a cooling rack. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake for a lovely finish.
