Ingredients

Bacon Jam Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces Use high-quality, thick-cut bacon for best flavor.
  • 2 medium Yellow onions, peeled and diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, smashed and peeled
  • 0.5 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 cup Light brown sugar, packed
  • 0.25 cup Pure maple syrup
  • 0.75 cup Brewed coffee
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red pepper flakes Use up to 1 tsp for more heat.

Instructions

  • Step 1: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon pieces until browned and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Step 2: In the same skillet, add diced onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add smashed garlic and sauté for another minute.
  • Step 3: Transfer cooked bacon, sautéed onions, and garlic to the crock pot. Add apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, maple syrup, brewed coffee, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
  • Step 4: Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, stirring occasionally until thick and jam-like.
  • Step 5: Optionally, blend the bacon jam for a smoother texture using an immersion blender or food processor.
  • Step 6: Transfer to jars or airtight containers, let cool, then seal. Enjoy on various dishes or gift to friends!
