Ingredients

  • 1 pound carrots peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 cup orange juice fresh preferred
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 clove garlic finely minced
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon orange zest

Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Stirring spoon
  • Serving dish

Method

  1. Start by peeling and cutting your carrots into 1-inch chunks. This size ensures they cook evenly and absorb the glaze beautifully.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the orange juice, maple syrup, minced garlic, kosher salt, and orange zest. If you're adding butter, include it at this stage.
  3. Add the carrot chunks to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Allow the carrots to simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are tender but still have a slight bite.
  4. Once the carrots are cooked, remove the lid and increase the heat to medium-high. Allow the liquid to reduce, stirring occasionally, until it thickens into a lovely glaze. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Once the glaze is thick and coats the carrots beautifully, remove them from heat. Transfer your Easy Glazed Carrots to a serving dish and enjoy them warm as a delightful side dish!

Notes

  • Don’t overcook the carrots; they should be tender but not mushy.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more maple syrup if desired.
  • If the glaze is too runny, cook it a little longer until it thickens.
