Ingredients for Blackberry Sauce
4cupsBlackberriesFresh or frozen
1cupGranulated Sugar
1tablespoonFresh Lemon Juice
1tablespoonCornstarchOptional, only if using fresh berries
1tablespoonWaterOnly if using fresh berries
Instructions
Step 1: If using fresh blackberries, rinse them under cold water and pat dry. For frozen blackberries, use them straight from the freezer.
Step 2: In a medium saucepan, combine blackberries and granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir gently to coat the blackberries with sugar.
Step 3: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. If using fresh blackberries, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth. Once the blackberries bubble, add the cornstarch mixture and stir for 5-7 minutes until thickened.
Step 4: Remove from heat and stir in fresh lemon juice. Allow to cool slightly before serving or storing.
Notes
For a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender. Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
