  • 16 ounces lasagna noodles broken into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 shallot diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 4 cups jarred marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 cups spinach fresh or frozen
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup parmesan grated
  • Fresh basil chopped, for garnishing

Equipment

  • Sheet Pan
  • Large Skillet
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Spatula
  • Aluminum Foil

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Step 2: In a large skillet, add the olive oil and sauté the shallot and garlic until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add ground beef and Italian sausage, cooking until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Step 3: Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Step 4: In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and spinach, mixing until evenly distributed. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Step 5: Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the sheet pan. Layer half of the lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and half of the meat sauce. Sprinkle one cup of mozzarella on top. Repeat the layers and finish with the remaining mozzarella and parmesan.
  6. Step 6: Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Step 7: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Step 8: Let sit for 10 minutes before garnishing with fresh basil and serving.
