Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter for that perfect, creamy melt
  • 10 oz mini marshmallows the glue that holds everything together
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal crisp, light, and perfect for texture
  • green food coloring to give your Frankenstein that iconic green hue
  • black food coloring for details like stitches or hair
  • candy eyes the fun, spooky finishing touch
  • chocolate chips or melted chocolate for decorating and adding monster details

Equipment

  • Large saucepan
  • Mixing spoon or spatula
  • 9x13 inch pan
  • Wax or parchment paper
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Microwave-safe Bowl

Method

  1. Grease a 9x13 inch pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of treats.
  2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter.
  3. Add the entire package (10 oz) of mini marshmallows to the melted butter and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and quickly stir in green food coloring a few drops at a time until desired green shade is reached.
  5. Immediately add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture and stir gently but thoroughly until every piece is coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan and press evenly using a buttered spatula or wax paper. Let cool for about 30 minutes or until firm.
  7. Once cooled, cut into rectangles or squares resembling Frankenstein’s head.
  8. Use black food coloring to add stitches or hair details.
  9. Attach candy eyes using a dab of melted chocolate.
  10. Use chocolate chips or melted chocolate for the mouth, bolts, and other fun monster details.

Notes

  • Use vegetable shortening instead of butter for a dairy-free version.
  • Chop large marshmallows if using instead of mini marshmallows for easier melting.
  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or freeze for longer storage.
