Ingredients

For the Skewers:
  • 1/4 medium Watermelon chopped into cubes
  • 1 cup Grapes washed and left whole
  • 6 oz. Blueberries perfect for adding color
  • 2-3 firm ripe Bananas cut into 1-inch slices
  • 4 oz. Semi-sweet chocolate for drizzling
  • 1 teaspoon Shortening to help the chocolate melt smoothly

Equipment

  • Skewers
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Microwave-safe Bowl
  • Small spoon or fork

Method

Instructions:
  1. Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients. Make sure you have all your fruits washed and ready to go. Chop the watermelon, cantaloupe, and pineapple into bite-sized pieces. Slice the bananas and wash the grapes and blueberries.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Skewers. Take your skewers and begin assembling your fruit. Start with a piece of watermelon, followed by a slice of banana, a few grapes, a chunk of cantaloupe, and finish with a blueberry. Repeat this process until the skewer is filled to your liking, leaving some space at the bottom for easy handling.
  3. Step 3: Melt the Chocolate. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate and shortening. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  4. Step 4: Drizzle the Chocolate. Once your skewers are assembled, place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Using a small spoon or fork, drizzle the melted chocolate over the skewers as desired.
  5. Step 5: Chill and Serve. Place the skewers in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes to allow the chocolate to set. Once chilled, your fruit skewers are ready to be served!

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm fruits to prevent them from falling apart.
  • Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  • Experiment with different fruits for variety, like strawberries or kiwi.
