Ground Beef For Tacos

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80–85% lean)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning use less or more to taste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 12 ounces canned corn
  • 1 1/2 cups salsa

Equipment

  • colander (optional, for draining)

Method
 

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion to the skillet.
  2. Cook, breaking the beef into pieces with a spatula, until no pink remains, about 4–6 minutes.
  3. Drain excess fat from the skillet using a spoon or by pouring into a heatproof container, then return the meat to the skillet.
  4. Stir in the garlic powder, taco seasoning, and water until evenly combined.
  5. Add the canned corn (drained) and salsa, stirring to combine with the seasoned beef.
  6. Reduce heat slightly and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through and slightly thickened.
  7. Remove from heat and serve warm in tacos, burritos, or as desired.

Notes

  • Store tightly covered in the refrigerator for 3–4 days.
  • It can be frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Fully reheat before eating.
