Cooking Steps:
- Step 1: Heat the Skillet - Begin by heating 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Allow the oil to warm up before adding the ground turkey.
- Step 2: Cook the Turkey - Once the oil is hot, add the 1-1 1/4 pounds of lean ground turkey. Use a spatula to break it apart, cooking until the turkey is browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
- Step 3: Add Spices - Sprinkle in the 2 teaspoons of granulated beef bouillon, 1 tablespoon of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon each of smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and dried oregano. Adjust the cayenne pepper to your spice preference, adding 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon. Stir well to incorporate the spices into the turkey.
- Step 4: Incorporate Water - Add 2 tablespoons of water to the mixture. This helps the spices meld together and prevents the turkey from drying out. Stir well and let it simmer for a few more minutes.
- Step 5: Season to Taste - Taste the turkey mixture and add salt as needed. Remember that the bouillon already adds some saltiness, so adjust accordingly.
- Step 6: Prepare Toppings & Serve - While the turkey is cooking, prepare your toppings. Chop the lettuce, dice the tomatoes, slice the avocados, and gather your cheese, guacamole, hot sauce, salsa, and sour cream.
- Step 7: Assemble Tacos - Warm your tortillas or taco shells according to package instructions. Fill each tortilla with the turkey mixture, then top with your favorite toppings. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Store leftover turkey filling in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For longer storage, freeze the turkey mixture for up to 3 months.
- Prepare fresh toppings just before serving for the best flavor and texture.
