Ingredients

For the Bars:
  • 1 sleeve graham crackers broken into pieces
  • 1 disk Mexican chocolate chopped
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground ancho chile powder
  • 1 cup pecans chopped
  • 1 cup pepitas hulled
  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14-ounce

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • 9x13 inch Baking Dish
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife

Method

Method:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Baking Dish. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Step 2: Make the Graham Cracker Base. In a mixing bowl, combine the broken graham crackers and melted butter. Stir until the crumbs are fully coated. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form an even layer.
  3. Step 3: Layer on the Goodness. Sprinkle the chopped Mexican chocolate evenly over the graham cracker base. Then, layer the chopped pecans, pepitas, and shredded coconut on top of the chocolate.
  4. Step 4: Add the Butterscotch Chips. Sprinkle the butterscotch chips evenly over the layered ingredients. This sweet addition will melt beautifully during baking.
  5. Step 5: Drizzle with Sweetened Condensed Milk. Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the entire mixture, ensuring all layers are moistened. This will create a rich, gooey texture as it bakes.
  6. Step 6: Bake to Perfection. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the top is set. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Chop the chocolate finely to ensure it melts evenly.
  • Press down firmly on each layer to create a compact bar that holds together well.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting for cleaner edges.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
