Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast fresh, boneless, and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups Panko bread crumbs optional, for extra crispiness

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Frying pan or deep fryer
  • Paper Towels

Method

  1. Begin by cutting the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces. Aim for uniform sizes so they cook evenly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the milk and egg. Whisk them together until well blended. Add the chicken pieces to the mixture and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In one bowl, combine the flour, salt, and black pepper. In a separate bowl, place the Panko breadcrumbs. Set up your station for easy dipping.
  4. Once the chicken has marinated, coat each piece first in the flour mixture, shaking off excess, then dip into the Panko breadcrumbs.
  5. In a frying pan over medium-high heat, add enough oil to cover the bottom. It should be hot enough that a breadcrumb sizzles when dropped in.
  6. Carefully place the breaded chicken pieces into the hot oil, frying for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Transfer the cooked nuggets to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the spices in the flour for extra flavor.
  • These nuggets freeze well; bread them and freeze before frying.
  • Experiment with different types of breadcrumbs for varied textures.
