Ingredients

  • 1 pound refrigerated pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup pizza sauce your favorite brand or homemade
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese for melty texture
  • 2 cups sliced pepperoni classic filling
  • 1 large egg beaten for egg wash

Equipment

  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Pastry Brush

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) for even baking.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cut the rolled-out dough into rectangles, approximately 4x6 inches.
  4. Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce on one half of each rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges. Top with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.
  5. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a tight seal.
  6. Brush the tops of each pocket with the beaten egg for a golden color.
  7. Place the Hot Pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add Italian herbs like oregano or basil to the filling.
  • These pockets can be frozen before baking; wrap tightly to prevent freezer burn.
  • Experiment with different dipping sauces like ranch or marinara for added flavor.
