Step 1: Gather all ingredients and rinse basil leaves thoroughly. Pat dry.
Step 2: (Optional) Toast pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until golden.
Step 3: In a food processor, combine basil, garlic, toasted pine nuts, salt, and pepper. Pulse until finely chopped.
Step 4: With the processor running, slowly drizzle in olive oil until emulsified and smooth.
Step 5: Add grated Parmesan cheese and pulse until combined. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
