Ingredients

  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup salted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • Whipped cream For that light, fluffy topping.
  • Nuts Chopped walnuts or pecans for crunch.
  • Cherry (or any desired topping) A classic cherry on top completes the sundae.

Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Ice cream scooper
  • Serving dishes

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped unsweetened chocolate and cut pieces of salted butter. Place over low heat, stirring continuously until melted and smooth. Be careful not to let it burn.
  2. Once the chocolate and butter are melted, gradually whisk in the half-and-half and granulated white sugar. Continue to stir until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is silky and combined.
  3. Increase the heat slightly and let the mixture come to a gentle simmer. Allow it to cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
  4. Scoop your favorite ice cream into serving dishes. Pour a generous amount of the warm hot fudge sauce over the ice cream.
  5. Top your creation with fluffy whipped cream, a sprinkle of nuts, and a cherry or any other desired toppings for extra flair.
  6. Serve your Hot Fudge Sundae immediately while the fudge is warm and the ice cream is cold. Enjoy every heavenly bite!

Notes

  • Make the hot fudge sauce in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
