Ingredients

  • 1 cup ground Dominican coffee (44 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • Sugar to taste
  • 4 cups boiling water (1 liter)
  • Sugar (to taste)

Equipment

  • Colador
  • Greca
  • Measuring cup
  • Teaspoon
  • Pot or kettle
  • Coffee mug

Method

  1. Begin by boiling 4 cups (1 liter) of water in a pot or kettle. Make sure the water reaches a rolling boil to extract the best flavors from the coffee grounds.
  2. While the water is boiling, measure out 1 cup (44 grams) of ground Dominican coffee. If you like a hint of warmth, add 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg to the coffee grounds for an aromatic twist.
  3. If you’re using a colador, place it over a heatproof container. If you prefer the greca method, fill the bottom chamber with water, add the coffee grounds to the filter, and assemble the greca.
  4. Once the water is boiling, pour it over the coffee grounds in the colador or greca. If using a colador, allow the coffee to steep for about 5 minutes. If using a greca, place it on the stove over medium heat and wait for the coffee to percolate.
  5. Once brewed, pour the coffee into your mug. Add sugar to taste, stirring until fully dissolved. Adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
  6. Now, take a moment to savor the aroma and warmth of your freshly brewed Dominican coffee. Whether you drink it black or with milk, this coffee is sure to please!
