Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips may substitute semi-sweet
  • 1 pastry for a single crust pie
  • 3/4 cup chocolate hazelnut spread like Nutella
  • 3/4 cup dulce de leche
  • Sea salt flakes for garnish
  • Ice cream for serving
  • Hot fudge sauce for drizzling
  • Caramel sauce for drizzling

Equipment

  • Mixer
  • Baking Dish
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Oven

Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. Step 2: Roll out your pastry for a single crust pie and fit it into your pie dish. Crimp the edges and set aside.
  3. Step 3: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Step 4: Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until fully incorporated.
  5. Step 5: In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking soda. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Step 6: Fold in the semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Step 7: Spread the chocolate hazelnut spread over the bottom of the prepared pie crust. Pour the cookie batter on top, smoothing it out, then drizzle with dulce de leche.
  8. Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Step 9: Allow to cool slightly before serving, topped with sea salt flakes and a scoop of ice cream. Drizzle with hot fudge and caramel sauce for extra indulgence!

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, consider browning the butter before mixing.
  • Add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for extra crunch.
  • Reserve some chocolate chips to sprinkle on top before baking for decoration.
  • Let the pie cool completely for cleaner slices.
