  • 1 pound Lean ground beef
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1.5 tablespoons Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Tomato sauce (or strained tomatoes)
  • 1 cup Red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 6 hot dogs halved
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  • Step 1: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Then, add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  • Step 2: Stir in the chili powder, garlic powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly to blend the spices into the meat and onion.
  • Step 3: Pour in the tomato sauce and add the drained red kidney beans. Stir and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Step 4: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the mini buns in half and place them in a baking dish, cut side up. Arrange the halved hot dogs on top.
  • Step 5: Spoon the chili mixture over the hot dogs and buns, ensuring even distribution.
  • Step 6: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Step 7: Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and serve warm.
