Ingredients

For the Mozzarella Bites:
  • 1 package Mozzarella string cheese (12 count)
  • 2 cups Panko bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • Oil (for frying)

Equipment

  • Deep frying pan or skillet
  • Cooking thermometer
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Slotted spoon or tongs
  • Paper Towels

Method

Stepwise Method:
  1. Step 1: Prepare the Cheese - Begin by unwrapping the Mozzarella string cheese sticks. Cut them in half to create bite-sized pieces.
  2. Step 2: Set Up Your Breading Stations - In three separate bowls, prepare your breading stations: In the first bowl, pour the all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, pour the milk. In the third bowl, mix the Panko bread crumbs with the Italian seasoning and parsley.
  3. Step 3: Bread the Mozzarella Bites - Take each piece of cheese, dip it into the flour to coat, then into the milk, and finally roll it in the seasoned Panko breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  4. Step 4: Heat the Oil - In a deep frying pan or skillet, pour enough oil to cover the bottom about 1 inch deep. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Step 5: Fry the Bites - Carefully place a few breaded Mozzarella Bites into the hot oil. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.
  6. Step 6: Drain and Serve - Once cooked, use a slotted spoon or tongs to transfer the Mozzarella Bites to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Repeat until all the bites are cooked.
  7. Step 7: Enjoy with Marinara Sauce - Serve your Mozzarella Bites hot with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, consider double-breading the bites.
  • These bites can be frozen before frying for convenient future snacks.
  • Experiment with different herbs in the breading for varied flavors.
