Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your 9-inch round cake pan with butter or non-stick spray and set it aside.
- Step 2: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and icing sugar until pale and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add in Nutella, melted butter, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the Nutella mixture in three additions.
- Step 4: In another bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, salt, and flour. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the lukewarm milk, stirring until just combined.
- Step 5: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Step 6: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack. Dust with icing sugar before serving.
Notes
- Ensure eggs are at room temperature for better emulsification.
- Whipping egg whites is crucial for the cake’s texture.
- Be gentle when folding in the egg whites.
- Let the cake cool completely before slicing for clean cuts.
