Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 3/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Nutella or another brand of chocolate hazelnut spread
  • Powdered sugar for dusting on top

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Step 4: Mix in the vanilla extract and salt until well combined.
  5. Step 5: Gradually add the flour to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Step 6: Press about two-thirds of the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Step 7: Spread the Nutella over the layer of dough evenly.
  8. Step 8: Crumble the remaining dough over the Nutella layer.
  9. Step 9: Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Step 10: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift out using the parchment paper and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, use vegan butter.
  • Nutella can be substituted with any chocolate hazelnut spread.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
