Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Storage container

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the room temperature unsalted butter and creamy peanut butter. Using your hand mixer or stand mixer, beat them together on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and well combined, about 2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed initially to prevent a sugar cloud. Once incorporated, increase the speed to medium and mix until fluffy, about another 2 minutes.
  3. Add in the vanilla extract and kosher salt. Mix on low speed until the ingredients are well combined.
  4. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while mixing on medium speed. Continue to mix until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
  5. Taste your frosting and adjust the sweetness or peanut butter flavor if desired.
  6. Spread the Peanut Butter Frosting on your favorite baked goods.

Notes

  • Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • You can freeze the frosting for up to 3 months; thaw in the fridge overnight before using.
  • Re-whip refrigerated or frozen frosting to restore its creamy texture.
