Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 4.5 cups Peanut Butter Captain Crunch
  • 4.5 cups Cap'n Crunch cereal (the regular kind, no berries!)
  • 0.5 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk chocolate or semi-sweet)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (divided)
  • Optional additions

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Microwave-safe Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or wax paper

Method

Instructions
  1. Begin by gathering all your ingredients and equipment. Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper to make cleanup easier later on.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, creamy peanut butter, and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until everything is melted and smooth. This usually takes about 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Once your chocolate mixture is melted, stir in the salt and optional vanilla extract. Ensure that everything is well combined for the best flavor!
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Peanut Butter Captain Crunch and the regular Cap’n Crunch cereal. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently fold it in using a spatula. Be careful not to crush the cereal—you're aiming for a nice coating without breaking the pieces.
  5. Once the cereal is evenly coated, sprinkle 1 cup of powdered sugar over the mixture. Stir to coat the cereal completely. This will help give your Puppy Chow that signature sweetness!
  6. Spread the Puppy Chow onto the prepared baking sheet and let it cool completely. Once cooled, you can sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of powdered sugar over the top for an extra sweet touch. Break apart any clusters, and your Peanut Butter Puppy Chow is ready to enjoy!
