Begin by rinsing the long-grain white rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain well.
In your medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, bay leaves, and a pinch of kosher salt. Stir gently to distribute the salt evenly.
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with the lid. Allow the rice to simmer for about 18-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
After the cooking time is up, remove the saucepan from heat. Keep the lid on and let the rice sit for an additional 5-10 minutes.
Remove the bay leaves and use a fork to fluff the rice gently. Serve warm.
