Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice rinsed
  • 1 cup water fresh, filtered
  • 2 pieces bay leaves
  • 1 pinch Kosher salt

Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Measuring Cups
  • Spoon
  • Timer

Method

  1. Begin by rinsing the long-grain white rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain well.
  2. In your medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, bay leaves, and a pinch of kosher salt. Stir gently to distribute the salt evenly.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with the lid. Allow the rice to simmer for about 18-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
  5. After the cooking time is up, remove the saucepan from heat. Keep the lid on and let the rice sit for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  6. Remove the bay leaves and use a fork to fluff the rice gently. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure you rinse the rice thoroughly to avoid gummy texture.
  • Allow the rice to rest after cooking for a fluffier result.
  • You can use vegetable broth instead of water for added flavor.
