Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: Using the unsalted butter, generously grease your baking dish.
- Step 3: Using your mandoline slicer, thinly slice the Yukon gold potatoes to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Step 4: In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well blended.
- Step 5: Begin layering half of the sliced potatoes in the greased dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle half of the grated Gruyère cheese on top.
- Step 6: Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese. Finish with a layer of cheese.
- Step 7: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
- Step 8: Let your Potatoes Gratin with Garlic rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to experiment with different cheeses for a unique flavor.
- Assemble the gratin a day ahead and refrigerate for convenience.
- Don't skip the resting time after baking to help the gratin set.
