Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 medium yellow onion, peeled & thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 12 rolls King’s Hawaiian rolls
  • 12 slices horseradish cheddar cheese
  • 12 slices roast beef deli style
  • 0.25 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)

Instructions

  • Step 1: Caramelize the Onions - Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, brown sugar, and salt. Cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Step 2: Prepare the Rolls - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom half in a greased baking dish.
  • Step 3: Assemble the Sliders - Layer roast beef, horseradish cheddar, and caramelized onions on the bottom half of the rolls. Sprinkle oregano if desired.
  • Step 4: Top and Bake - Place the top half of the rolls over the assembled sliders. Melt the remaining butter and drizzle over the top. Cover with foil.
  • Step 5: Bake to Perfection - Bake for 15 minutes covered, then remove foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and rolls are golden brown.
  • Step 6: Serve and Enjoy - Let cool for a few minutes, slice into individual servings, and serve warm.

Notes

For a spicier flavor, consider using a very sharp horseradish cheddar cheese. You can also add toppings like pickles or jalapeños for a unique twist.
