Directions
- Begin by juicing the two lemons into a measuring cup, ensuring you remove any seeds. Set the lemon juice aside. Next, grate two tablespoons of fresh ginger and slice the remaining ginger into thin pieces.
- In a large pot, bring six cups of water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
- Once the water is boiling, add the freshly grated ginger, sliced ginger, turmeric powder, and the lemon juice. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the honey. Start with half a cup and taste the mixture. You can add more honey if you prefer a sweeter drink.
- Let the mixture simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.
- If you prefer a smoother drink, use a strainer to remove the ginger pieces before serving.
- Pour the drink into mugs or heatproof glasses. If desired, garnish with pomegranate arils and lemon slices for a burst of color and flavor.
Notes
- For a fresh twist, add mint leaves.
- A cinnamon stick can enhance the warmth.
- Adjust sweetness with honey to taste.
