Equipment

  • Small Saucepan
  • Blender
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Large saucepan

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 pieces Apricots, pit removed and rough chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups Ketchup
  • ½ cup Molasses
  • ¼ cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Ground mustard powder
  • 2 teaspoons Onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Cayenne pepper Add up to 1 tsp for a spicier sauce

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Apricots - Start by chopping the apricots into rough pieces. In a small saucepan, combine the chopped apricots with 2 tablespoons of water. Bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Step 2: Blend the Apricot Mixture - Remove the saucepan from heat and puree the apricot mixture until smooth using an immersion blender or regular blender. Set aside the apricot puree.
  • Step 3: Combine the Ingredients - In a large mixing bowl, combine the apricot puree with the remaining ingredients. Whisk everything together until well combined.
  • Step 4: Cook the Sauce - Transfer the mixture into a clean saucepan. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat and reduce to low. Let it cook for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 5: Adjust Consistency and Flavor - Check the consistency of the sauce. If it’s too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time until desired consistency. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Step 6: Cool and Store - Once the sauce has reached the perfect flavor, remove from heat and let it cool. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

For the best flavor, let the sauce sit for a few hours or overnight in the refrigerator before using.
