Ingredients

Sweet Potatoes

  • 2 large sweet potatoes Peeled and cut into chunks

Flour

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour For the mixture
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour For coating
  • 1 ½ cups canola oil For frying

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Sweet Potatoes - Peel and cut sweet potatoes into chunks. Boil in water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and cool slightly before mashing.
  • Step 2: Mash and Mix - In a mixing bowl, mash the sweet potatoes until smooth. Add flour, salt, garlic powder, and cinnamon. Mix until combined.
  • Step 3: Shape the Tots - Sprinkle flour on a surface. Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of the mixture, roll into cylindrical shapes, and coat lightly in flour.
  • Step 4: Heat the Oil - In a frying pan, heat canola oil over medium heat. Test with a small piece of the mixture; it should sizzle.
  • Step 5: Fry the Tots - Carefully place tots in hot oil, frying for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  • Step 6: Serve and Enjoy - Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Cool the mixture before shaping for easier handling. Fry in small batches for best results.
