Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef lean recommended
  • 1 oz taco seasoning 1 packet
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 8 oz Velveeta cheese cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 Tbsp butter for brushing
  • 1 tsp taco seasoning for the butter
  • 1 package Hawaiian rolls 12-oz

Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Baking Dish
  • Knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until it’s browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning and salsa, mixing well. Let simmer for a few minutes.
  2. Reduce the heat to low, and add the cubed Velveeta cheese to the mixture. Stir until melted and well combined. Remove from heat.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected, and place the bottom half in a greased baking dish.
  4. Spoon the cheesy beef mixture over the bottom half of the rolls, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese.
  5. Melt the butter and stir in the taco seasoning. Brush this mixture over the tops of the rolls.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let the sliders cool for a few minutes. Slice between the rolls and serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Customize toppings with avocado, lettuce, or sour cream.
  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
