Ingredients

  • 1 head broccoli cut into florets
  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 1 shallot diced
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds for garnish

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Cutting Board
  • Sharp Knife
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Serving dish

Method

  1. Begin by washing the broccoli thoroughly. Cut it into bite-sized florets. Slice the mushrooms and dice the shallot.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Let it bubble slightly but ensure it doesn’t brown.
  3. Add the diced shallot and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 2 minutes until the shallot becomes translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
  4. Add the broccoli florets and sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir well to combine with the shallot and garlic. Sauté for 5-7 minutes or until the broccoli is tender but still vibrant green.
  5. Pour in the teriyaki sauce, stirring to coat all the vegetables evenly. Allow it to simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly.
  6. Once everything is well combined and heated through, remove the skillet from the heat. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for a beautiful finish. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Try marinating the broccoli in teriyaki sauce for 30 minutes for extra flavor.
  • Add other vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for more color.
  • Use a high-quality teriyaki sauce for the best taste.
  • For a thicker sauce, simmer longer until desired consistency is reached.
