Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large sheet pan.
Step 2: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and mix in buttermilk and vanilla.
Step 4: In a saucepan, combine water, butter, and cocoa powder. Bring to a boil.
Step 5: Combine the hot cocoa mixture with the dry ingredients and egg mixture.
Step 6: Pour the batter into the prepared sheet pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
Step 7: Prepare the topping by melting caramel with milk and mixing in chopped pecans.
Step 8: Spread the caramel and pecan mixture over the cooled cake.
Step 9: For the icing, melt butter and cocoa, then whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla.
Step 10: Drizzle the icing over the caramel layer and serve.
